https://www.championx.com/Norm earned both his BS, MS and Ph.D in Chemistry from Rice University and has been in the energy industry for over 30 years. He started his career as a research chemist with Nalco, which later become known as ChampionX. His work was primarily in the areas of Corrosion and Water Clarification, generating a number of products that are still in use today. As he progressed in the technology area, he was transferred to Fawley, England to lead the Production Chemistry research group. Upon his return to Sugar Land, Texas, he managed the Flow Assurance research group and under his direction, the team built the original deepwater chemical product lines and the first generation of Surflo certified umbilical qualified products.
Norm later worked at The Dow Chemical Co. for ten years where he was the Sr. R&D Director of the Oil & Gas business and Freeport Site Leader before returning to ChampionX in 2018. Throughout his career, he has held leadership roles of increasing responsibility, guiding his teams to successfully create and implement revolutionary and transformative solutions in all aspects of the Upstream, Midstream and Downstream sectors of Oil & Gas. His leadership experience also includes marketing experience in a Marketing Director capacity. In his current role, Norm leads a global RD&E team of over 200 people at ChampionX, where he guides the team to drive innovations that help further the efficiency and effectiveness of efforts in the energy transition.
In addition to his role as Vice President of RD&E, Norm also serves on the leadership committee and is a strong advocate of RISE, ChampionX’s employee resource group dedicated to promoting gender equality by inspiring all employees to foster a culture of gender diversity and inclusion.
