    Mara Abbott

    Chief of Staff at OpenMinds

    Mara Abbott is the Chief of Staff at OpenMinds. Prior to her arrival at OpenMinds, she was the senior manager of the oil and gas team at Ceres, working with investors and companies to address the risks and opportunities associated with climate and the energy future.

    Mara is also an award-winning journalist. Her writing has appeared in the Wall Street Journal and USA Today, among other publications. In her most recent reporting position, she covered the energy industry, natural resources, wildlife, and policy from her home in northeastern Wyoming.

    A former professional road cyclist, Mara is a U.S. Olympian, a multi-time elite national champion, and a two-time winner of the women’s Giro d’Italia. She earned her bachelor’s degree in economics from Whitman College.

    Emily Emmett is a Partner in the Bain & Company Houston office She has been with the firm since 2005 and previously worked in its New York and London offices.

    Emily has deep experience helping companies achieve transformational change. She is a recognized expert in designing and implementing operating model improvements, often to deliver a new strategy. She is a leader of Bain’s Organization practice, with expertise in Agile, organizational structure and team design, as well as culture, leadership and talent development. Over the last decade, Emily has worked in the energy, healthcare and technology sectors. Her recent work has focused on Energy and Natural Resources clients, helping leadership teams align their organizations to deliver results in the context of rapidly changing market conditions.

    Within Bain, Emily is a leader of the firm’s people development and DEI priorities. She is passionate about creating great places to work, and opportunities for individuals to contribute and thrive.

  • Deviyani Misra-Godwin (Director of SCF Partners)

    Deviyani Misra-Godwin

    Director of SCF Partners

    Deviyani Misra-Godwin is a Director at SCF Partners, where she has been since 2018. Her role focuses on assessing and executing new investment opportunities across North America and internationally, as well as providing strategic support to existing portfolio companies. She serves as a board director on BCCK, Variperm Energy Services, Capital Sand Permian, and T.D. Williamson.

    Deviyani has grown up and lived all over the world, including Cambodia, Kenya, India, Pakistan, France, England, and now the USA. She received a First Class Masters in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cambridge, during which time she was selected to spend a year at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Deviyani started her career at ExxonMobil in a range of operational and strategic roles in the largest refining and petrochemical complex in the UK. She subsequently joined the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in their Energy practice, working on projects across the energy industry. She has an MBA from the Harvard Business School.

    In her free time Deviyani is a board member of Literacy Now, a non-profit focused on early childhood literacy and Co-Chair of the Houston Reads Day initiative. She is Vice-Chair of the Society of Petroleum Engineers Investment and Finance committee. She is also an EMERGE mentor, empowering college access to high-performing students from underserved communities. Deviyani and her husband have two children, and they love to go camping and to travel.

    Carbon Capture & Storage Development Planner at ExxonMobil

    Phoebe Ho-Stone is a carbon storage development planner at ExxonMobil. She graduated with a degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University and spent summer internships working for BHP Billiton, Equinor and ExxonMobil.

    Phoebe started full time at ExxonMobil in 2020 and has held roles in upstream production & reservoir engineering before joining the low carbon solutions team to progress CO2 storage projects in the United States Gulf Coast. Phoebe currently serves on the Texas A&M Petroleum Engineering industry board and the OpenMinds Climate & Energy NextGen Leaders Steering Committee. Outside of work Phoebe enjoys photography and traveling.
