Please join us for our annual panel discussion with renewable energy experts. This year we will hear from Susan Fernandez, Senior Director of Strategy, Communications & Government Engagement at ACES Delta, LLC (Chevron New Energies); Sarah Ridel, Senior Director and Transactions Counsel at Pattern Energy; Alyssa Wahlin, Research and Development Engineer at Dominion Energy; and Unsiat Zahra, Research and Development Engineer at Dominion Energy. The panelists will discuss groundbreaking renewable energy projects, such as ACES-Delta project, SunZia Wind and Transmission project developed by Pattern Energy, and Dominion Energy's ThermH2 hydrogen blending project. Lunch will be provided. Leeza Evensen, a renewable energy partner with Snell & Wilmer, will moderate the panel. Spots fill up fast so be sure to register today!

    Leeza Evensen is based in Snell & Wilmer's Salt Lake City office where she serves as Co-Chair of the firm's Real Estate Practice Group. Leeza regularly serves as lead real estate and development counsel and strategic advisor to developers of utility-scale wind, solar, and storage projects. She has worked on renewable energy projects in Utah and other states and assists with every stage of the project development cycle - from early-stage site control through commercial operations. Her experience includes representing developers and operators of utility-scale facilities, traditional real estate developers, ski resorts, landowners, real estate investment trusts (REITs), builders, and financial institutions.

    Susan Fernandez is a multi-disciplinary, seasoned communications and government relations strategist with over 25 years of experience in both the public and private sectors. Early in her career she worked on countless public relations, political and issue campaigns, and after 17 years she was called to work for the United States Senate as a Director.

    Fast forward to her career in energy and power generation where she served on the executive team with her C-suite colleagues and helped lead governmental relations efforts on many issues including on the education on the role of hydrogen. She later received recognition as a Woman in Power who made a difference during the company’s strategic growth and hydrogen initiative. Fast forward to today, she serves as Senior Director of Strategy with ACES-Delta (which you’ll hear more about).

    Senior Director and Transaction Counsel of Pattern Energy

    Sarah Ridel is a Senior Director and Transactions Counsel at Pattern Energy. Prior to joining Pattern, she was an associate at the international law firm Skadden and Senior Counsel at BayWa r.e. Americas. In these roles, she has worked on a broad range of transactions related to the development, construction, and financing of renewable energy and transmission projects. Sarah also served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Kingdom of Tonga and holds a B.A. from the University of Texas – Austin and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.

    Alyssa joined Dominion Energy in 2014 as an Operations Research and Development Engineer. This position has given her the opportunity to work closely with many employees within Dominion’s field operations to create a safer and more efficient working environment. Her job duties have also included developing technical expertise on renewable energy including renewable natural gas and hydrogen. She works closely with other industry experts to further natural gas and hydrogen research. Alyssa received her MBA in 2018 and is a licensed professional engineer within the state of Utah since 2020. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time outside hiking or biking especially if the sun is out!

    Unsiat Zahra is a Research and Development Engineer at Dominion Energy. Over the past two years, she has been part of the team working on Dominion Energy hydrogen blending project called ThermH2. She is also affiliated with NYSEARCH and GTI organizations dedicated to advancing research and technology in the natural gas industry. Beyond her professional pursuits, Unsiat likes to explore the world of 3D printing.

    Teaming up with her colleague, Alyssa, she will share the company's hydrogen blending project in Delta, Utah.
