WENOK and OKWIT are partnering! We are joining forces to create meaningful and fun classroom material to add to the Starbase 2.0 program. Please sign up for Starbase Committee for details.
WENOK kicks off every school year with STEM in mind. The STARBASE Energy 2.0 STEM program partners with local middle schools to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics for middle school students. Sign up now to be part of the committee or volunteer for a chair position through Women's Energy Network Greater Oklahoma. Positions open in OKC and Tulsa.
Eighth-grade students enrolled in the program get the opportunity to complete 12 one-hour modules all consisting of an aspect of the energy industry. The module curriculum includes the lifecycle of the oil and gas industry, the role of wind and solar energy in improving communities, and the career opportunities in the energy industry. The program was developed by WENOK members from a variety of sources, including information generously provided by the Oklahoma Energy Resources Board (OERB). The program helps young girls understand how the energy industry operates, impacts their daily lives, remains focused on safety and environmental concerns, and supports local communities. If you're interested in volunteering, or your company is passionate about STEM and motivating students to explore STEM education, reach out to GreaterOklahoma@WomensEnergyNetwork.org.
